Flue types
Fan forced balanced flues
Fan forced flues are powered by an electronically controlled fan. Air for combustion is drawn from outside the building through the flue system, burnt in an enclosed burner and then discharged through the flue system. Cool room air is drawn over a heat exchanger and dispersed via convection into the room. This means that the models can be used almost anywhere in the building, regardless of normal ventilation restrictions.
This flue method achieves high efficiencies, ensuring a maximum amount of gas energy is utilised, and provides high indoor air quality, as the air for combustion is expelled outdoors.
The discreet and compact flue terminals and the flexible flueing options enhance the ability of this type of appliance to be installed in a variety of positions.
Natural draft/open flues
This flue system relies on the heated products of combustion rising and discharging safely into the atmosphere; this air is then replaced by cooler room air, therefore creating a continuous natural draft when the appliance is in use.
