Gas cooking appliances
Gas provides precise, instant temperature control on the cooktop and the versatility of varying temperature levels inside the oven. In the commercial kitchen, gas has always been recognised for performance and economy. Now, virtually all appliances, including fryers and combi-steamers, are available in gas.
Modern gas cooking appliances feature a wide variety of colours and finishes and are available in all dimensions, and configurations.

Cooktops (hobs)
Gas cooktops provide higher temperatures, and these are available almost instantly. Controllability and precise temperature selection are also advantages of cooking with gas.
A wide variety of designs and configurations are available, ensuring easy integration into the overall kitchen design.
Under-bench/wall ovens
A separate oven enables the selection of an oven and a cooktop that best suit cooking requirements. There is a wide selection of ovens available, with an extensive choice of styling, colours and finishes.
Gas ovens have improved considerably over recent years and offer these advantages:
Zoned heat
This means the oven can be loaded with foods that require different cooking temperatures. For instance, biscuits could be cooking on a level above a roast.
Succulent results
Unlike electricity, the water vapour produced by gas as it burns keeps baked, grilled or roasted food moist and succulent.
Installation
Where side clearances (measured from the periphery of the nearest burner to any vertical combustible surface) around domestic gas cooking appliances are less than 200mm, combustible surfaces must be protected by:
- 5mm thick ceramic tiles
- some other fire resistant material covered with sheet metal of 0.4mm minimum thickness
- tempered glass to a height of at least 150mm above the hob for the full dimension of the cooking surface area. If the appliance is fitted with a splashback, protection of the rear wall is not required.
